With great joy, the Augustinian Community of Santo Spirito announces, as part of the Santo Spirito Conferences 2026, the official presentation in Florence of the book Free Under Grace. Writings and Meditations 2001–2013 by Father Robert Francis Prevost, now Pope Leo XIV.
The event will take place on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 5:30 p.m., in the Chapter Hall of the Convent of Santo Spirito, and represents a moment of particular significance for our community, which welcomes and highlights the spiritual and pastoral thought of a confrere now called to guide the universal Church.
Speakers will include:
- Paolo Ruffini, Prefect of the Dicastery for Communication of the Holy See
- Father Giuseppe Pagano, Prior of the Basilica of Santo Spirito
- Ugo De Vita, author and actor
The volume, published by the Libreria Editrice Vaticana, brings together writings, meditations, homilies, and addresses by Father Prevost from the period in which he served as Prior General of the Order of Saint Augustine. These pages, partly unpublished, are united by a profound Augustinian inspiration and offer a living and contemporary reflection on the challenges of history in the light of grace.
The initiative is promoted in collaboration with the Centro Studi Internazionale Leone XIV ETS, the Theological Faculty of Central Italy, the Pontifical Patristic Institute Augustinianum, the Order of Saint Augustine, the Associazione A Minimo Incipe, and the Libreria Editrice Vaticana, in a fruitful dialogue between spirituality, culture, and ecclesial life.
Free admission, no reservation required. The event will also be live streamed.
